Cleveland v. Detroit (4-0)

Orlando v. Philly (4-2)
Orlando went and won 3 straight.

Atlanta v. Miami (3-3)
Going into Game 7 and thoroughly unimpressive

Lakers v. Utah (4-1)
Lakers won. Mostly yawnworthy

Denver v. New Orleans (2-0)
Somehow Denver lost a game. And followed up by beating the Hornets by 58 points. That was the worst blowout in NBA History. Keep in mind that the Kings (who were the worst team this year) never lost by that many.

San Antonio v. Dallas (1-2)
Mavs won. Spurs are done

Portland v. Houston (4-2)
This series wasn't as good as I wanted it to be in hindsight. The Blazers just aren't quite there yet. This is mostly Oden's fault. The fact that Yao didn't drop 35 a night is inexcusable. Ron Artest took a few too many 3 pointers.

Boston v. Chicago (3-3)

Watching this series for me was like watching "The Dark Knight" the first time. Watching the Bulls win in that Game 6 triple overtime thriller was absolutely amazing. This is a game that featured:
Rajon Rondo as a a villain.
Joakim Noah getting a steal and dunking on Paul Pierce (did he think he was a PG or something).
Ray Allen scoring like his life depended on it (51 points).
Derrick Rose with a great block, and pitiful clutch shooting.

But 2 days later, now that I've gotten over it. The Game was better than average. But it wasn't the best ever. In TDK, Heath Ledger was great, and there were some great lines, but it also had some parts which were boring, keeping it from being the best movie ever. In Bulls-Celtics Game Six, there were some great moments, but the game kinda ended with a thud. Derrick Rose couldn't hit the free throws, Salmons pitiful defense that nearly caused the Bulls to lose the 2nd OT. And it just didn't have the moment at the end.

This series has had some pretty good moments, but nothing classic. On the other hand, this is definitely the best first round series, and certainly the most intense series I've seen. No other series has had 4 games go into OT. It went into double overtime, then triple overtime.

Another problem is this, the series really doesn't matter. Its a first round series, at the end of it all, Neither of these teams will beat the Cavs, and the winner may be too drained to beat the well-rested Magic in the second round. Also this series is severely lacking in KG. If he weren't injured this series would probably be over, and I certainly wouldn't be talking about it.

However this is great basketball, and as long as Game 7 isn't a dud, this will certainly go down as one of the great series if not the best.

The prediction was right. Its 3-0 right now. Nearly over

Boston v. Chicago (2-1)

The celtics are actually tougher than I thought they were. So are the Bulls. 

Orlando v. Philly (1-2)

Correction: Philadelphia is using the  "no one believes in us" card. The Magic need someone to finish out games and hit the big shot. Neither Lewis, Turkoglu nor Howard qualifies. None of them want the ball.

Atlanta v. Miami (1-1)

This series is closer than I thought it would be.

Lakers v. Utah (2-1)

I thought this would be lopsided. But The Lakers will still win this series. It just wont be the quick sweep I predicted.

Denver v. New Orleans (2-0)

Billups has kept the good times going. He has been scoring and scoring.

San Antonio v. Dallas (1-2)

Still have yet to actually care. May Dallas win the next 3 games so this series will be over. 

Portland v. Houston

The antithesis of the aforementioned series. I love watching these two teams. But I beleive in the Rockets more than I did a few days ago. Watching Artest (one of my favorite current players) is great. Seeing him in the Rockets uniform is better. Seeing him doing well and leading the Rockets to the promised land is priceless.  And by promised land I mean the second round. 

Needless to say, I'm flip-flopping a lot regarding this series.

Boston in 6. Honestly, I haven’t really watched the Bulls this year. But if the Bulls won this series I wouldn’t be too surprised. Either way, neither of these teams will beat the Magic.

Orlando v. Philly

Orlando in 5 I think Philadelphia could win one but Orlando has the  “no one believes in us” card this year

Atlanta v. Miami

When Miami wins, is it ok to call it an upset? I didn’t think so either

Funny how the addition of Chauncey Billups changes the entire landscape of the Rocky Mountain Squad. Billups will keep the good times going. But picking against the Hornets bothers me deeply.

Portland v. Houston

These are my two favorite teams. There are two problems with their seeding.

1) Portland is one of the hottest teams, and a team I predicted to go far. Houston is another team I predicted to do well but at the end, despite being my favorite team, they’re still the Rockets.

2) Whoever wins this matchup gets to play the Lakers. I can’t pick against the Lakers with a straight face this year. (Until the NBA finals at least

Bold Predictions

1. The Houston Rockets will make it out of the first round of the playoffs. 

2. AJ Burnett and Petitte will have more combined wins than Sabathia and Wang

3. There wont be any major surprises on NFL Draft day. 

4. The Rays and Yankees will be in the playoffs this year, and the Sox won't

5. The Dodgers or the Angels will make the playoffs, not both. 

6. Celtics wont make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Productivity.

At this moment, I realize that I have a lot of personal issues to work on. I procrastinate heavily. So heavily that i'm not veing pructive at all, even for things I enjoy.

Abstinence Only?

I'm against abstinence-only programs. I went to Catholic School during my sex-ed years, and I was always thankful that they didn't pretend that all kids are abstinent. The problem with the conversation between abstinence-only education, and those who approve of sexual education is this:

Abstinence only debater: If you teach kids about sex, they will want it and have babies and STDs.
Sexual Education debater: If you don't teach them prevention, then they'll have unprotected sex and have babies and STDs.

The problem is that both sides have a mutual goal. They don't want pregnant 15 year olds, or people getting Herpes, HPV and AIDS. The problem is that sex isn't like touching a hot stove, it can be good. Most things that are considered good are things people try to attain. So if you dont teach kids how to protect themselves from the bad things in sex then there's a chance that they'll get involved in extremely risky behavior.

Abstinence only education only completely works in completely sterile areas where there is no access to people telling you the positives on sex. If you live in an area where teenagers aren't having sex, where there's a 0 percent STD/teen pregnancy statistic, then abstinence only is fine. However, a good idea is to tell them how to protect themselves and promote abstinence. Sex has major consequences and therefore early teenagers shouldn't be doing it, but if/since they are (and statistics show that there are teens having sex, just to be clear), here's a way to help prevent most of the negative consequences. I'm pro-abstinence, but anti- abstinence only education. Promote abstinence like crazy, but be sure to teach kids that condoms are useful in decreasing the chance of pregnancy and STDs. Teach kids to wait for mariage or a long-term monogamous relationship before having sex, but let them know about the effectiveness of Plan-B and birth control. I've never met a person who was turned on by sex-ed.

Regardless of what you tell them, some teens will still choose to have sex, and some will choose abstinence.

The Big Game

I predicted the Cards would win the division this year. I didn't predict the Cards being in the Super Bowl. I was rooting for them, as they were the underdogs, and they put up a respectable showing. Shame that they gave the end of the game away. They really could have won that game. I might start putting up some of my own pics on here.
